If you look again at these two statements you may remember the closeness of some English and German words and recognise the link of “Sprache” to “speech”.

We cannot provide tuition for complete beginners, but if you’re now recalling some German, join us and you will be surprised how much you have actually retained. Let us stimulate your memory and introduce you to more.

We have two groups, which meet on alternating Mondays at 10.00 a.m. in Greenwood Community Centre, Meteor Crescent, Orford, Warrington WA2 0DU.

From September 2025 Wendy will lead the first half of each meeting. Under her guidance the Level 1 Group will be using “Willkommen 1” by Paul Coggle and Heiner Schenke as a starting text. Edition 3 is now available, though current members still own earlier editions. The Level 2 Group will use “Willkommen 2” by Heiner Schenke, which is a new approach for this group.

Various members will lead the second half of each meeting, usually reading German stories, which can be prepared in advance.

Wendy has recently helped our confidence in speaking some German, and we hope that will be more of a feature of our future meetings.

You can attend either one or both groups, or have a trial session with both before deciding.
