Walk: A moderate walk of around 7 miles, taking us through fields and woods up the Goyt valley to Fernilee reservoir, returning along the river. Mainly good paths, through pleasant woods and some good views. Approx 900 ft of ascent/descent. Walking poles useful. At the start of the walk we will pass Toddbrook reservoir to see the repair work still being done at the dam that caused Whaley Bridge to be evacuated in 2019.
Meet: 10:30 at Wharf Car park, Canal St, Whaley Bridge, SK23 7LX. Free. What3words: ///corals.requiring.winner. At time of recce ladies toilets were closed, men’s were open. Great cafe afterwards.
