Make Music Rock Group is where experienced musicians (both instrumental and vocal) meet to work harmoniously together. Warrington U3A has many groups working on musical skills and Make Music Rock is an attempt to provide an opportunity for performance.
Our plan is to work on a small selection of enjoyable musical numbers which we can build up into a well rehearsed ‘repertoire’, expanding it as we go along. Informally, working in small groups, we will develop the various aspects of each song such as Intro, Outro, turnarounds, breaks etc before bringing the whole piece together for performance.
To get the most out of a song, you will be provided with basic musical guidelines both online and printed if required. We will use the original keys as much as possible, but in certain circumstances key changes may be necessary to suit the vocal leads. The type of songs we propose to play include Rhythm & Blues, Swing, Pop.
Finally, the instruments that we have in mind include vocals, guitar, keyboard/piano, bass (guitar or double), drums and harmonica — with a view to expanding this in time. If you can also do a vocal lead, harmony or backing, then all the better!
We are using two song lists
